Every year we get to take care of Gram and Grandpa's house while they are away. We spend our days feeding the pets (including this friendly mouse who has taken the bunnies' place at the tiny tea table and is being fed a carrot)...
enjoying the wildlife...
and the lambs...
visiting the anthills and tide pools down by the bay...
and climbing the beautiful old trees in the orchard.
What's this? A tomtegubben's door; I wonder if they are at home... You might be wondering, "What is a tomtegubben?" Well, I've never seen one, so I can't tell you. =)
Grandpa and Grandma have the best playground! We took rides in the weed wagon...
and climbed the bean trellis...
and played in the dirt.
This looks very familiar. Pea is on the left; her mama on the right (same dirt, a little while ago).
We had a grand week on the farm, full of sunshine and fresh air!
When I was a little girl, the notch in this tree was a door to Narnia. But, as you know from the stories, when you get older (bigger) you can't go back. Now it's these small ones' turn to go through.
Since we don't (yet) churn butter on Thursdays, we bake instead. Here is my little apprentice practicing some kneading with her own little lump of dough. Fold, press, turn, fold, press, turn...
"Hmmm. That looks very interesting..."
"Maybe you guys 'knead' a little help."
"I even brought dog and meerkat for reinforcements."
And the fruits of our labor; Daddy especially liked the special little bun on the top.
I love the Lord who is the Master Gardener, my beautiful family, my humble home, and all things organic, natural, and ancient.
"I AM the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." John 15: 1 & 5
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Amen
