Granny squares

I would never think to put all these colors together, but the result is really cheerful, isn't it? This afghan is from my granny Dottie. It's wool, so incredibly heavy ~ and warm! I don't know much of this blanket's history, but my grandma lives in Las Vegas, so I doubt she used it much. I gladly accepted this gift from her, as well as a beautiful set of heirloom silver (come back again soon for more on this).

This is a gorgeous afghan! The green boarders anchor all of the colors so nicely. Reminds me of neatly bordered flower beds. It appears large with meticulous workmanship.

So beautiful. And so Vegas, it seems to echo the colourful panoply of the casinos and the colourful slot machines, although that probably was not her intention. My but it looks so warm and snuggly....

I never connected the bright colors with those of LV, but I see it now! Makes me love it all the more! Vegas has always held a certain charm for me ~ so glitzy, so gaudy!
